Why You Need a Summer Morning Routine

LISTEN ON YOUR FAV PLATFORM:   APPLE  |  SPOTIFY  |  GOOGLE

In most places in the United States, the school year has ended. Whether or not you have school-aged kiddos, the end of the school year often signals a change to our rhythms and routines. Activities end. New ones begin. The sun stays up later. We move. Or go on a trip. Or just enjoy the change of pace.

But let me ask, what do you want out of this summer?

Because what you get out of this summer is up to you. And with a little intentionality, you can have a summer that moves you closer to your goals and dreams.  (Yep, even in the middle of a crazy PCS).

Maybe what you’re after this summer is just the chance to rest. Or maybe you want to invest in your kids a little more. Perhaps you want to finally launch that business. Or find a way to be present with your kids, while still working from home.

If you want to be intentional and productive with your summer, then you need to carve out time for one thing…a morning routine.

In this episode we discuss why a morning routine is so important, and ways to structure it to give you the desired outcome you are after. A morning routine does not have to be rigid, but carving out time for this routine might be the difference-maker between a summer of joy and a summer of exhaustion.

Creating a morning routine as a military spouse

DO YOU HAVE A SUMMER MORNING ROUTINE?

For many of us, summer brings a shift in schedules and routines. While it may be tempting to let go of our morning routines during this time, it is important to recognize the value this routine can bring to our lives.

Why Your Morning Routine Matters

A morning routine is more than just a series of tasks to complete. It sets the tone for the day, helps us be intentional, and fosters personal growth. Here are five reasons why morning routines are vital:

It Sets Intention for your day

A morning routine allows us to start the day with clear intentions. By defining who we want to be and how we want to show up in the world, we can live with purpose throughout the day.

It Helps Focus Your Mind

In a world filled with distractions, a morning routine helps you focus your mind on what truly matters. By avoiding the temptation to immediately reach for our phones and engage with external stimuli, we can direct our thoughts towards our goals and aspirations.

It Increases your Productivity

A well-structured morning routine enhances productivity. When we start the day with intention and clarity, we are more likely to accomplish our tasks efficiently and avoid feeling overwhelmed.

It is Self Care

A morning routine serves as a form of self-care, enabling us to prioritize our well-being. By dedicating time to ourselves in the morning, we can approach the day from a place of rest, health, and wholeness.

It Helps You Develop Healthy Habits

Morning routines contribute to personal growth by establishing positive habits. It is through the consistent practice of these routines that we can shape who we want to become and how we show up in the world.

How to Create A Practical Summer Morning Routine

While it’s essential to have a morning routine year-round, the summer season brings unique opportunities and challenges. Here are some tips for optimizing your morning routine this summer:

Set an Intentional Wake-Up Time

Even though summer may offer more flexibility, it’s beneficial to maintain a consistent wake-up time. Find a balance that allows you to enjoy the season while still dedicating time to your routine.

Begin with Prayer and Gratitude

Starting your day with prayer and gratitude sets a positive and grateful mindset. Reflect on the things you are thankful for and seek spiritual guidance to navigate the day ahead.

Align Your Summer Goals

Revisit your goals and affirmations regularly. Remind yourself of what you’re working towards and why it matters. Use this time to visualize your desired outcomes and reinforce your commitment.

Adjust Your Routine as Needed

Recognize that routines evolve and change. Be open to adjusting your morning routine throughout the summer as you discover what works best for you. Experiment with new practices that align with your goals and bring you joy.

As a military spouse, it is important to prioritize self-care, personal growth, and intentional living. A regular morning routine provides the foundation for achieving these goals. Even during the summer season, maintaining a morning routine allows you to approach each day with purpose and make progress towards a life that inspires you. So, let’s embrace this summer with an intentional morning routine that sets us up for success and fulfillment!
